Do you have a vision of what you want to achieve out of life? If so, are you prepared to go that extra mile to make your dreams a reality?
Having a vision for the future can be a source of inspiration; it provides clear decision-making criteria. You need to know where you are, your current resources, your current obstacles, and where you want to go - the vision for the future.
A vision statement outlines what you want to achieve in the future. Features of an effective vision statement may include:
- Clarity and lack of ambiguity.
- Painting a vivid and clear picture.
- Describing a bright future.
- Ensuring that it is memorable and engaging.
- That it is time bound if it talks of achieving any goal or objective.
It’s amazing what you can achieve from having one clear vision and the determination to make it reality.
You need to stick with your vision step-by-step, and inspire like-minded people to get involved. At times it will be a slow process, but you need to march on, getting over every obstacle in your path. Your chosen path may be difficult, but you need to be audacious and walk it anyway!
Acknowledge that just because you can’t see a way to make your vision come true just yet, a way might still exist. When working toward a goal, you don’t have to have all the answers when you start. All you need to know is what your next step is, and hold a willingness to trust that everything will work out.
Start stretching your concept of what is possible for your life. Right now you probably have a mental set point of achievement that is open to you, but in reality your set point might be much, much higher than you think! Begin expanding on your dreams and see what else you can do to grow and develop your potential.
Networking with other people can help you move mountains, and it’s an amazing achievement when you finally realize your vision. Not just for you but for everyone who has shared the vision.
So, if you have a vision of what you want out of life, just go for it. Put your heart and soul into achieving it. Don’t let anything put you off. As you start your journey with belief, you will find positive ways of making your dreams a reality.
Your enthusiasm will shine through and is likely to inspire others who will help you on your way.
Life is for living and for striking out for all that you dream. So believe in yourself and just do it!

I’ve found that one of the things that helps me to achieve my dreams and visions is to follow a system such as the one put forward by Bob and Melinda Blanchard in their book Changing Your Course. Having a step by step system to keep track of what I’m doing really helps me stay focused on what I want to achieve.

I’ve always found having a vision to help me get what I want out of life. Somtimes it helps to write down what that vision is and describe it to yourself. Then you can go back and read it when you feel like giving up.

To help me stay true to my vision I used to have a list of my personal values (around 12) that were the most important to me. Every morning I would review and meditate on each of these for a minute or two. It was a great way to help me keep focused and keep me on the path of my vision.
Great post, I think when you write more emotionally it really sinks in.
