Goals In Your Life

Do you have a long list of things to do? Are you overwhelmed by the seemingly endless streams of things you need to do?

Do you have to juggle your time between work, family, home and hobbies? What you need is to find ways to organize your life. Here are some handy tips to help you organize your life and keep your sanity.

1. Keep a notebook and pen handy at all times, so you can jot down ideas, appointments or things to do as you remember them.

2. Learn to say no. It’s great to lend a helping hand to others sometimes, but if time does not allow you to help a co-worker, friend or family member, then you must politely say “no”. And you shouldn’t feel guilty about it. You need to maintain your focus on the work you need to do.

3. Set a time limit to each phone call you make and any emails you have to write.

4. Have a to-do list. Have a general to-do list to record all the tasks you need to accomplish, and a daily to-do list that is created each day by transferring tasks from the general list. It’s best if you prioritize your lists; assign each task a number after they are listed (”1″ for highest priority, “2″ for second highest priority, etc.) which indicates in which order to execute the tasks.

5. Don’t put it off! Don’t forget to tackle the large jobs and the tasks you have put off because you dislike them. Be enthusiastic about those less-than-interesting jobs, if only to finally cross them off your list and mentally move on.

6. If you don’t have the time or the job is too big for you, learn to delegate or team up with somebody who can help you.

7. Go through old paperwork and files to free up space. De-clutter your workspace. This will enable you to focus on your work and not waste precious time digging through stacks of stuff in order to find what you need. Also remember to tidy up and put things away when you have finished.

8. Use sticky notes to remind you of things that need doing.

9. Solve problems right away. Problems are a fact of life and they can help us grow if looked at positively. The last thing you want to do is let a problem weigh on your mind. A problem that is left unresolved for too long only becomes a bigger problem. So as soon as you have a problem, make a decision on how best to clear it up right away, and then move on.

10. Schedule some time out! Make an appointment for yourself and keep it, even if it’s only to put your feet up and watch a movie or a 30-minute walk in the fresh air.

These tips will start you on your way to a more organized life.
Maybe with the extra time you save, you can host a party to celebrate your newfound freedom!
